CALLIGRAPHY:

Calligraphy is the writing of alphabets and numerals in a manner so as to beautify and create an artistic appeal to the writing. Modern day definition of calligraphy is said to be, "The art of expressing thoughts with beauty, harmony and peace".

Calligraphy is a visual art and is often referred to as an art of stylish handwriting. This word has been derived from two Greek words - Kallos and Graphos, which mean ‘Beauty’ and 'Writing' respectively. Calligraphy is learnt to enhance one’s creativity, to improve one’s concentration, develop one’s artistic skills and most of all to increase one’s patience.

In the recent past, there have been many new applications of calligraphy in the form of weddings and event invitations, religious art, commissioned calligraphic art, cut stone inscriptions and memorial documents, paintings, maps, and legal documents, ceramics, memorial documents and especially in handmade presentations. It is also used as props and moving images for film and television, testimonials, television images, maps and other work involving written content.
Creatively lettered artwork merchandise is in great demand in the urban locale. Another option is body art designing in conjunction with tattoo artists.

We at HSI offer a unique set of courses to fit out students interested in Calligraphy. We prescribe the course for ages 6 and onwards, since it requires some bare minimum amount of experience in letter and number formation. We train our students to learn different forms of calligraphy on the basis of typography. Our methodologies assist in inculcating the ability to form fluid and spontaneous characters, which can be improvised regularly as and when it is being written.

We help encourage our students to equip themselves with different varieties of calligraphy pens, calligraphy papers, calligraphy brushes, calligraphy markers, calligraphy fonts by which we can beautify letterings in an artistic manner and make learning fun.
